‘Munros’, Ben Lomond

This is my trip up Ben Lomond on the ‘tourist route’. Don’t be fooled by that, it’s no tourist route, in fact, I think it’s the hardest walk I’ve done to date. Probably a good final practice run for the Buachaille Etive Mòr walk. On my way back down I passed a lot of people, many who could be described as tourists, they didn’t look prepared for it… The path is very rocky, from the beginning and it’s a steep ascent, but the views are fantastic. My knees, feet, calf muscles and thighs hurt after this walk, usually it’s just my knees & feet…

As always, the stats and a summit selfie

This is also the first Munro I’ve noticed a few memorials at the summit. one of which is a slab of marble. That must have been a heavy carry. I totally get the sentiment of placing these, particularly where kids are involved, but I’m not sure where I stand on placing them on the hills. I have a suspicion that they will get removed at some point, I think that there will have been many more left on Ben Lomond over the years. Not sure how I feel about removal either.

The views over Loch Lomond are fantastic, the pics don’t do them justice. The views of other hills are equally great, particularly those of the Arrochar Alps. The Cobbler looks magnificent.
